-
Eori® is made from 100% eucalyptus cellulose fibers, transformed through a proprietary green chemistry process. No polyurethane (PU), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), or petrochemical binders are used. The result is a pure, plastic-free biomaterial.
-
Eori® matches or exceeds traditional leather in key metrics: tensile strength (>25 MPa), tear resistance (>80 N/mm), flex endurance (>100,000 cycles), and abrasion resistance (>50,000 Martindale cycles). It also breathes better and molds to the body faster.
-
Yes. Under industrial composting conditions (ISO 14855), Eori® biodegrades >90% within 180 days. In marine environments, it fragments without producing persistent microplastics. We publish full biodegradation test reports.
-
Absolutely. Eori® is designed as a drop-in replacement. It cuts, sews, embosses, and finishes on standard leather machinery. No new tooling, no retraining, no capital expenditure required for our partners.
-
Our standard palette includes 24 colors across aniline, semi-aniline, and protected finishes. Custom color matching is available with a 2-week lead time. All dyes are REACH-compliant and metal-free.
-
For standard colors and finishes: 50 linear meters. For custom developments: 500 linear meters. Sample kits (A4 swatches + datasheets) are available for evaluation at no cost to qualified partners.
-
Our pilot facility is in Portugal, with commercial-scale production coming online in 2024. We work with certified tannery partners in Italy and Spain for finishing. Full supply chain traceability is available on request.
-
Visit our Contact page and select "Request Samples" in the interest dropdown. Our technical team typically responds within 2 business days with a sample kit including material swatches, full technical datasheets, and application guides.

Yes. Eori® meets key OEM specifications including FMVSS 302 (flammability), low VOC emissions (<0.5 mg/m³), UV resistance (ISO 105-B02 >4), and thermal cycling (-40°C to +85°C). We are in co-development with two major OEMs for 2025 model year programs.
We replicate the cell-like structure found in animal skin using plant-based ingredients to create a bio-based, natural material: everything leather offers, minus the animals.
Our technology is based primarily on cellulose, which can be obtained from wood, agricultural waste, and used cotton T-shirts. Through biomimicry, we mimic leather in look, feel, and performance, down to a similar microscopic structure. The process is carbon negative and involves zero effluent discharge.
Eori® Bio Leather contributes to the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization, and support innovation.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by promoting sustainable production and consumption practices.
Goal 13: Climate Action, by reducing the environmental impact of leather production, a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.
Goal 14: Life Below Water, by reducing the negative impacts of animal leather production on marine ecosystems and supporting sustainable alternatives.
Goal 15: Life on Land, by reducing the environmental impact of animal farming and supporting sustainable land use practices.

No. The term “leather” applies to materials made from animal skin. Eori® is a biomaterial engineered to look and feel similar to animal-based leather. It is made primarily from cellulose, which can be obtained from wood, agricultural waste, and used cotton T-shirts.
Depending on the variant, Eori® is 98–100% bio-based. Some variants can include up to 2% non-biodegradable content to achieve specific surface characteristics requested by a customer; this is optional.
Eori® is 100% natural, durable, and made to a high standard. It has been extensively tested to meet the durability of animal leather and other synthetic materials. Eori® is highly resistant to wear and tear, water, and other environmental factors, making it a reliable, long-lasting choice for a wide range of applications.
